A police officer stopped me walking down the street and asked me questions. Do I have to answer?
The technical answer is no but I should tell you that it depends on the circumstances. Under certain instances, law enforcement can compel the testimony of civilian witnesses. However, if that law enforcement officer is investigating you, they must indicate to you that their questions are coming from that perspective.
